Rebased and finished up two barrage balloons for Cruel Seas

Showcase: Cruel Seas, IJN Kagero Destroyer

Finished up a Tamiya IJN Kagero Destroyer (1/350) for Cruel Seas. Still made every mistake possible, but slowly learning how to do rigging and work with enamel washes! 😅

WIP: Cruel Seas, Barrage Balloons Pt. 2

Carrying on from my re-basing of the British Bristol Beaufighter Mk Ic airplane for Cruel Seas, I’ve begun doing the same for my barrage balloons.

 

On the Tabletop: Cruel Seas, Warpath, KoW

Pretty diverse day of gaming! Cruel Seas (1500 points, Royal Navy vs. Kriegsmarine), Warpath: Firefight (Forgefathers vs. GCPS), and Kings of War (1600 points, Undead vs. Halflings). Good times.

 

On the Tabletop: Cruel Seas

Finally had a chance to get some hobby time in after a week of flu. Played a great game of Cruel Seas (1500 points, Royal Navy vs. Soviet Navy) and built up the dock terrain piece that recently arrived from Sarissa Precision.

 

Showcase: Cruel Seas Airplane Re-Basing

Apologies for the iPhone photos. Wasn’t happy with the base that came with the British Bristol Beaufighter Mk Ic airplane from the Royal Navy Fleet box for Cruel Seas, so I decided to try something different. 1/8″ acrylic rod superglued into a drilled out 60mm MDF base. Applied some layers of Vallejo Water Effects Texture (Pacific Blue) over airbrushed blues, then I added some washes and highlights for waves. My first attempt at water effects, so I’m happy with the results. Still need to finish painting that boat though!

WIP: Cruel Seas Royal Navy Ships and Re-Based Plane

Wasn’t happy with the base that came with the airplane from the Royal Navy Fleet box for Cruel Seas, so I decided to try something different. 1/8″ acrylic rod superglued into a drilled out 60mm MDF base. Applied some layers of Vallejo Water Effects Texture (Pacific Blue) over airbrushed blues. Two layers so far with some wash and highlights applied between them. Needs some more highlights and wash after the next coat dries clear.

Calling this done until I track down some proper decals and a longer clear, acrylic rod on which to rebase it.

On the Tabletop: Cruel Seas

Finally had a chance to get a game of Cruel Seas on the table. ~760 points each, scenario two, Germany vs. Great Britain.

Good time. Need to finish painting the fleet.

Showcase: Cruel Seas, Vosper MTBs

Four British mid/late Vosper MTBs all finished (minus flags) for Cruel Seas. The cloth mat here is from GW’s old naval game, Dreadfleet, and I think it works perfectly for now! These models were a nice, relaxed experience painting – very enjoyable! Now on to the rest of the Royal Navy Fleet boxset while I wait for my starter set and rulebook to arrive.
