Showcase: KoW Zombies, Heroes (WIP)

Finally had time to do some painting this weekend and wasn’t going to waste it: finished up 40 zombies for my Undead Army and dug into the bits box to prep a Revenant King on Winged Pegasus, Revenant King on Undead Dragon, some movement tray fillers, and some characters.

WIP: Project Stalingrad, Batch 3 Part 4

Been waiting on a couple cheap packs of Walthers HO scale Industrial Storage Tanks for my factory building. The kits are HO scale, but industrial piping, etc. is so varied in sizes that I think it works well as a scale-neutral option for 28mm terrain Kitbashed and glued in the first package this evening, along with a few other extras. Trying to find that sweet spot between detail, durability, and playability.

WIP: Stalingrad Terrain, Batch 2 Pt.1

Unexpectedly came into possession of a massive bag of modular plastic terrain, originally for Fantasy Flight’s OOP game “Dust Tactics.” Thought it’d make for a nice end-piece on a table and, subsequently, be ideal for siege/defend scenarios in Bolt Action. Tractor factory? Staling train station? Berlin building? Who knows.

Checking the width – just over three feet in width! Perfect. As a table end-piece, it seemed practical to leave the building open on the backside and maximize its width.

Testing out proof-of-concept for how the building will look. Cut down and slotted in plasticard for floors. Will need some supports and minor walls inside. Cut up some more plasticard to line the edge of the roof. Trying to decide how to build up the edge to allow for cover.

Next steps:

Glue everything together, find an MDF base to stick it down to, chips away and bullet holes to rough it up a bit, cover inside walls with index card paper, cut out and insert inner walls, build up roof edge cover (sandbags?), glue down balsa wood and/or popsicle sticks on wood floors(?), apply sandpaper to roof for texture.

WIP: Atomic Gas Station

More terrain for post-apocalyptic good times.

Printed out a checkered pattern from Google and cut to shape for the floor. The floor paper is not glued down, both in preparation for painting and in case I decide to switch it out for something else.

Thought the rooftops looked a little plain, so I glued on corrugated paper in anticipation of painted them up to look like weathered, corrugated steel. Certainly not loving the MDF gas pumps – might need to order some resin bits the next time I’m feeling rich.

In hindsight, I wish I had not glued down the roof supports yet. I’m considering adding sandpaper to replicate asphalt and it will make it considerably harder to do the support beam there.
